Erskine offers a unique quality of care with the provision of physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, podiatry and enhanced medical care on-site. Our vision is to ensure that our residents enjoy the best quality of life possible and that we achieve best practice in everything that we do. Nursing care is provided by a highly skilled team and our training programme ensures that all our staff receive the training that they require in order to deliver the highest standard of care possible.
Person Centered Care
Each resident is allocated a key worker who will plan their care with them. A personal plan is developed with the full involvement of our residents and family. This will include likes/dislikes such as food, drinks, recreational activities and what time the person likes to get up. A large part of this is to maintain social contacts with the local community and family especially if the family members live a distance away. At Erskine we believe that it is the small things that count because this is usually what is most important to our residents. This could be shopping to buy birthday presents, making sure that birthday cards are sent, assisting residents with long distance calls to Australia etc. This helps our residents to keep in touch with loved ones and brings a quality to their life. Social activities are a large feature of our care and we have very active and entusiastic recreation teams, they arrange various activities to cater for all tastes. Concerts, games, film shows, special sporting events ( includes a dram and a pint) and outings to highland games, tattoo, British Legion clubs, theatre, fishing trips, food tasting sessions swimming to name but a few. Special family events have been celebrated at the homes such as a special anniversary or birthday and our recreation dept makes the ideal venue for a family get together.
Admissions
Erskine care begins from the first contact with our admissions department. Making the decision to go into long term care is very difficult. This department provides advice and support on all aspects of the admission process at what is a very anxious time for future residents and their families. The dept will also sign post enquirers to other ex-Service organisations such as Combat stress and the War Pensions Agency if the need arises. The visiting nurse visits future residents to give further information about Erskine and also to complete our own assessment. This will ensure that we can meet individual care needs and that staff have all relevant information before new residents arrive. This allows us to have any specialist equipment such as pressure relieving mattresses in place before admission.
Every resident has a Key worker as their named nurse, someone to get to know, chat with or even confide in. They are supported by a range of healthcare professionals to meet specific needs. A specialist practitioner post in conjunction with Reid Kerr College develops best practice and conducts audits to ensure quality and standards. The care provided meets all the stringent Care Commission standards.
Erskine provides different kinds of care depending on the needs of the individual. Click the highlighted links to find out more.
