Supported Employment

Erskine operates four commercial businesses from its Bishopton headquarters, each offering a wide range of high quality products and services for sale ranging from: garden plants and sundries to pine furniture; print and stationery services to conference/training facilities. All the businesses employ ex-Service personnel and disabled workers. There is an added bonus when buying goods and services from Erskine in that every £ spent is a contribution towards the work Erskine carries out in caring for and employing ex-Service personnel.

Supported Employment Workshops

The workshops play an important role in the community lifestyle within the Erskine estate. Operated under JobCentre Plus Workstep Programme, the workshops have provided rehabilitation, training and employment for many residents and disabled workers over the years. Currently there are 38 severely disabled workers employed under the Workstep contract.

Started in 1917, the workshops used to be involved in traditional craft work such as shoe repair, basket making and a nursery garden. Today they provide high quality products on a commercial basis providing a useful contribution to Erskine's funds.
