Going Purple

A Dress-down day or a Dress-up day?

Wikipedia says Mufti Day (also known as Casual Clothes Day, Casual Friday, Own Clothes Day, Home Clothes Day, Plain Clothes Day, Non-uniform Day, Free Dress Day, Civvies Day, Dress Down Day, Uniform-free Day) – whatever you call it, it’s a day where schools or offices allow the students and/or staff to come in casual clothing (instead of normal uniforms).

We’re a bit more picky – we want, we need, we’ve GOT TO HAVE as many people wearing purple during Erskine Week as possible – it’s a matter of PRIDE!

It’s  easy to get something purple – one of our t-shirts – a purple hoodie – a purple tie – wear a purple flower - one of our Wrist-bands or an Erskine Purple Star of Honour.

Wearing Purple At Work

Erskine week is a great excuse for getting some extra colour into your workplace.

“We fined people for not wearing purple, we fined people for wearing the wrong shade of purple, we even fined people for wearing too much purple... we loved purple week”

Jim Kinloch, BAE Hillend

Why not go the whole hog and dress up as Barney the purple dinosaur or even wear a purple Santa Suit.

You might even like to incorporate Purple Day into your annual celebrations.

At a function

Why not add a touch of purple to an existing special function, perhaps your summer open day or party.  Raise funds however you like - run a raffle or charge a nominal fee to attend.

Let your mind run free – there are lots of ways to go purple – it’s all about making it more memorable and more fun.

Getting started
Let us know what you’re intending to do - register for Erskine Week and then download the pack – or get in touch and we’ll be happy to send you one.

And don’t forget to order your Erskine Week T-shirts... tell us how many you need (and what sizes) and we’ll have you all purpled-up as quickly as we can.

Schools love dress-down days so why not get your class, or year or even the Head Teacher to wear something purple for Erskine Week and show their support for Scotland’s Veterans.

Afterwards

Once everything has settled back down, and you have calmed down enough to make sense, please get in touch as we’d love to hear how you got on. Share your photos and stories with us on Facebook and Flickr or email gopurple@erskine.org.uk or call for a chat on: 0300 123 1203
