The Fallen of Strathaven & Avondale 1914-18

22-June-2012

Mr Robert Currie and the members of the Lanarkshire Family History Society Military Interest Team have published a moving tribute to ‘The Fallen of Strathaven & Avondale 1914-18’, which honours the sacrifice made by so many young men from the area, tells their stories and provides details of the local memorials which keep their memory alive.

The book, priced £12.50, can be obtained ordered direct by e-mailing publications-lanarkshirefhs@hotmail.co.uk and/or by telephoning Fiona Farrell, Publications Co-ordinator at 01698 299626. A donation will be made to Erskine for each copy sold.

The front cover bears the words ‘To the Honoured Memory of the Men of Avondale who fell in the Great War 1914-1918. They passed from the sight of men by the path of duty and self-sacrifice.’

Sure to be of interest to local families and those interested in the history of Lanarkshire.
