West Lothian Golf Club swings into action for war veterans

23-August-2011

West Lothian Golf Club has teed up £625 in aid of Erskine after holding a fundraising golf day.

Members of the 6249-yard course held the competition in support of our veterans’ charity Erskine, earlier this month.

Participants on the day enjoyed the challenging championship parkland 18-hole course which boasts scenic views of Forth estuary from its home in Airngarth Hill, between Linlithgow and Bo’ness.

Recently, the club’s General Manager, Alan Gibson, Pro Alan Reid and club member Billy Marr handed over the money raised on the day to Edinburgh Fundraiser, John Fyfe.

The trio enjoyed a tour of the facilities on offer at the Gilmerton care home which cares for 76 veterans in Scotland’s capital.

John Fyfe said: “I am delighted to receive this cheque from West Lothian Golf Club from its tremendous day of fundraising for our veterans’ charity. Erskine depends on the support of the local community to continue to provide care for the country’s ex-Service men and women and this money will go a long way in helping us to meet this commitment.”
