In what is believed to be a first for Glasgow‘s iconic fishmarket, The Briggait, the renowned Springfield Cambridge Festival Chorus and Orchestra will commemorate the centenary of the First World War in a unique concert.
The massed chorus and orchestra together with drama students will mark the centenary in an evocative tribute to the thousands of young men who formed Glasgow’s ‘Pals Battalions’.
Musical Director, Alan Craig, said, “The music of the trenches together with that of the Home Front during the Great War is so moving and haunting, capturing the mood of the city at that time. It is, without doubt, remarkably poignant.”
The Festival Chorus and orchestra will also perform Fauré’s Requiem in remembrance of ‘The Pals’ who never returned.
The concert will take place at The Briggait on Friday June 1st at 7.30 pm.
