The Highland Club – an award winning development by The Santon Group – have partnered with Veterans’ Charity Erskine, to provide much-needed rest and relaxation to veterans and their families at their luxury estate in Fort Augustus.
The Highland Club, who also sponsor the charity’s annual fundraising event, The Erskine Military Ball, recognise the importance of the charity’s mission* and continuously look to find innovative ways in which they can support this. As a result, they set up the veterans Holiday Incentive Scheme in which they offer a free night’s accommodation for every early bird table sold at The Erskine Military Ball.
Army veteran Bill McMahon and his family were the first to enjoy a stay at The Highland Club on the banks of Loch Ness.
Bill lives in an Erskine cottage with his wife Agnes. He was medically discharged from the Army in 1989 and has recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Bill can no longer fly to exotic destinations as walking through airports and waiting around departure lounges has become too stressful. Agnes said: “We didn’t feel we would be able to enjoy holidays again until we were given this amazing opportunity of a delightful and relaxing break. We had lots of fun using all the on-site leisure activities and exploring the local area, but more importantly we were able to spend quality, stress-free time together as a family. The Highland Club was like a little bit of heaven!”
The Highland Club have pledged their ongoing support to extend this generous offer to even more veterans living at Erskine and have arranged for another two veterans and their families to holiday at the complex in the coming months.
Head of Philanthropy for The Highland Club, Pardeep Sandhu said: “We’re delighted to be able to support such a wonderful charity. The work that Erskine does in providing care for veterans is invaluable and we feel honoured to be a part of it”.
Head of External Relations at Erskine, Sara Bannerman said: “We cannot thank the team at The Highland Club enough for their incredible ongoing support. This scheme is a perfect example of how much they genuinely care for Erskine veterans. The staff are a pleasure to work with, whether it is sponsoring events, promoting the charity or providing holidays. The Highland Club team put their heart and soul into ensuring our veterans receive the best possible support when they need it.”
