Veterans Eddie, Robert, Stevie and Evonne from Reid Macewen Activity Centre had a fantastic weekend taking part in the Great Game Waterloo Replayed at the Kelvin Gallery in University of Glasgow. It was an epic two days where 22,435 28mm soldiers were fielded with 120 players from around the world.
Royal Engineers Veteran and Activities Co-ordinator at Reid Macewen Evonne McCord said: “We were really struck by how welcoming and friendly everyone was, particularly the organisers and the players. The figures we painted were there in display capacity but when one of the players forgot his Scots Greys our Veterans stepped in and offered the Scots Greys we have painted at the Centre, so we are delighted our figures were part of the main game. We were also delighted to welcome Erskine Chairman Robin Crawford to the event who came to see our display and Jamie Fraser, an Erskine Trustee, who was taking part in the game and also spent time with us. It was a great experience so we are glad that Tony Pollard asked us to take part. Thanks to Tony, Donald Adamson the Project Coordinator and our own Volunteer John Hamilton for all the help and support, as well as the many others involved. Oh and most importantly the Allies won over the French Hazaar!”
