Veterans who attend Erskine Reid Macewen Activity Centre in Bishopton are thrilled to have won £2,000 through Tesco’s Bags of Help initiative.
During December Tesco shoppers in Greenock and Port Glasgow cast their vote for their favourite local Veterans project. The money will be spent on materials and equipment for the Veterans who attend the Activity Centre which has been open on the Erskine Veterans Village for one year.
Activity Centre Manager, Debs Dickson said: “We are delighted to have won £2,000 and thank Tesco for their wonderful support and all the Tesco shoppers who voted for us. We now have over 100 Veterans attending the centre on a weekly basis with sessions including woodwork, art, holistic therapy, IT, photography and model making. The money will be put to very good use by buying new equipment for our activity sessions. Our Veterans will tell us what equipment they would like so they are all quite excited to have this money to spend.”
Army Veterans Billy and Stevie were delighted to receive the cheque from Lorella Sutherland, Tesco Community Champion, Greenock and Lynn Emerson, Tesco Community Champion, Port Glasgow.
