Single Living Accommodation

Erskine is currently building 24 apartments on their Bishopton Estate. These are not retirement apartments, but are instead prioritised for occupation by single ex-service men and women of working age and are scheduled to be available by October 2019.

The new Single Living Accommodation will be located adjacent to Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Company within the Erskine Veterans Village with some of the flats available for those working in the facility. Other apartments will be allocated to those who meet the eligibility criteria.

The Single Living Apartments will give veterans in need of accommodation a place to live within a community of fellow ex-service personnel, where they can continue to engage with people who have shared experiences and backgrounds whilst preparing for the next chapter in their lives.  It is intended that veterans occupy these apartments for approximately 2 years whilst they retrain, re-orientate and transition into “life in Civvy street”.

The building will provide apartments with a double bedroom, sitting room, en-suite shower room and kitchenette. The apartments will be let with white goods and fitted with TV and telephone access points. There will also be a communal recreation/TV lounge.

Each apartment will be self-contained but tenants will have the opportunity to buy meals from Harry’s cafe within The Erskine Home and to access advice and support through the activities centre and visiting charity representatives.

The rent and service charges will be set at a competitive rate and will include utilities.  These charges will be subject to annual review.

Located close to the M8 motorway and public transport links makes Glasgow City Centre accessible within 15 minutes.

Erskine has qualifying criteria for its accommodation and applicants must meet at least one to be considered as a potential tenant.  The qualifying criteria for tenants are as follows:

  • Serving or served as a member of one of HM Armed Forces as a Regular or Reservist
  • A member of the Merchant Marine and were deployed on active service
  • A member of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary

Priority allocation will be given to:

  • Disabled Service men and women who have been injured on duty and are about to leave the forces and veterans who are disabled and/or in receipt of a War Pension or Armed Forces Compensation Scheme Payment, with priority based on level of disability.
  • Service men and women who are about to leave the forces and veterans who have an accommodation need.

Proof of eligibility and service will be required on application.
