Erskine is proposing to build up to 24 apartments on their Bishopton Estate. These apartments will be for occupation by single ex-service men and women of working age and are scheduled to be available by late 2018.
The new Single Living Accommodation will be located adjacent to Scotland’s Bravest Manufacturing Company within the Erskine Veterans Village with some of the flats reserved for those working in the facility. Other apartments will be allocated to those who meet the eligibility criteria.
The Single Living Apartments will give veterans in need of accommodation a place to live within a community of fellow ex-service personnel, where they can continue to engage with people who have shared experiences and backgrounds.
The proposed building will provide apartments with a double bedroom, sitting room, en-suite shower room and kitchenette. The apartments will be let with white goods, fitted with TV and telephone access points and may be furnished or unfurnished. There will also be a communal recreation/TV lounge.
Each apartment will be self-contained but tenants will have the opportunity to buy meals from Harry’s cafe within the Erskine Home and to access advice and support through the activities centre and visiting charity representatives.
It is expected that the rent will be in the region of £450 per month including utilities.
Located close to the M8 motorway and public transport links makes Glasgow City Centre accessible within 15 minutes.
