The MacRobert Trust has awarded Erskine a generous grant of £100,000 towards the cost of constructing 24 Independent Living Apartments on our Veterans Village in Bishopton. The award will enable us to support younger Veterans through the provision of affordable, secure, purpose-built accommodation within a supportive community, where they can continue to engage with others who have shared experiences and backgrounds.
Commenting on the donation, Erskine Chief Executive Ian Cumming MBE said: “We are extremely grateful to the Trustees of The MacRobert Trust for this substantial grant and their generous support over the years. Erskine is renowned for sector-leading nursing care and support to older, more frail, or more vulnerable Veterans. However, with the support of friends like The MacRobert Trust, we are increasing the breadth and depth of charitable services available to help Veterans face and overcome any number of challenges at any stage in their lives, post-Service. This award will enable us to support younger Veterans who need a safe home to recuperate, reflect and retrain before starting the next chapter of their lives.”
Alison Donaldson, Executive Secretary of The MacRobert Trust, commented: “One of Lady MacRobert’s fundamental wishes was to support those who have served our country and as such the MacRobert Trust is delighted to play its part by contributing to such an invaluable project – which comes with our very best wishes to everyone at Erskine and especially to those who will be fortunate enough to use the accommodation, once it has been completed.”
Construction of the apartments is proceeding well and we envisage welcoming the first residents to their new homes during summer 2019.
