An Historic Day

In the Bunker of The Erskine Home, Erskine Veterans gathered to say goodbye to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, watching the sad occasion of her funeral on large screens especially set up for the event.

In silence they watched the funeral processions and services.  It was very poignant and emotional, for as our CEO Ian Cumming pointed out, for many the Queen was a totemic figure for the military.

After the service many talked of their own personal memories of the late Queen. Volunteer Liz Stewart had prepared a beautiful afternoon tea for the residents to enjoy as they chatted about the magnificent pomp and pageantry they had just witnessed.  History being made as we watched, a day never to be forgotten.
