Erskine Veterans Celebrate VE Day 80th Anniversary

VE Day across Erskine was marked with celebration, reminiscent of the street parties of 80 years ago.

Veterans, families and staff gathered at The Erskine Home in Bishopton and Erskine Edinburgh in Gilmerton to enjoy entertainment, afternoon teas, and to share their memories of WWII and the relief they felt when it ended.

The homes were festooned with decorations from the era, including flags, hats, and banners. One staff member said, “It took us three days to make the place look this fantastic.”

Our Activity Centres also took part, attending memorial services followed by celebrations featuring entertainment and good food.
