The Veterans’ charity Erskine has a care home shortlisted in, not one, but two categories of The Caring UK Awards 2019.
The Erskine Home in Bishopton, which cares for up to 180 Veterans and their spouses, has beaten off competition from hundreds of others across the UK to be shortlisted for the Care Home of the Year and Best Commitment to Training and Development awards.
The annual event recognises excellence and achievement in care homes the length and breadth of the country. In each category the selected finalists had further opportunity to showcase their homes during a visit from the awards team, prior to final decisions being made.
The winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony at The Athena, Leicester on Friday 15th November when the industry will gather to salute all that is great about the caring sector.
Speaking on behalf of Erskine, Director of Care Derek Barron said: “We are delighted to be nominated for two such prestigious awards. The Care Home of the Year nomination is an important acknowledgement of our underlying philosophy which puts the residents at the very centre of our care approaches. We believe that this is the residents’ Home and we are privileged to work here. The nomination recognises that these are not simply words but that they are at the heart of what our committed and dedicated staff practice every day”.
Director of HR & OD Jane Scobie said of the Best Commitment to Training and Development nomination: “We firmly believe that well trained staff are essential to deliver the high quality care our residents deserve and being nominated for this award recognises our staff and volunteers who work for Erskine have a wide range of skills and experience, and are valued as our prime resource. Our commitment to training is integral to everything we do.
