Masterclass in garland making kicks off Christmas in Forres

EVAC North kicked off its Christmas Sprint today with a warm and welcoming Garland Making Workshop, bringing members together at the centre to mark the start of the festive season in a positive, practical way.
Ten members took part in the session, creating their own Christmas wreaths while enjoying a relaxed atmosphere, good conversation, and a chance to switch off from day-to-day pressures. The workshop offered more than a festive craft activity – it created time and space for connection, companionship and wellbeing, which can be especially important as winter sets in and the run-up to Christmas begins.

“Today was the perfect start to our Christmas Sprint,” said Shaun Moat, Chair of the Members Committee at EVAC North. “You could feel the lift in the room. It wasn’t just about making wreaths, it was about getting together, having a laugh, learning something new, and making sure people feel part of something. For a lot of veterans, this time of year can be difficult, so sessions like this really matter.”

The Christmas Sprint will run throughout December with a programme of seasonal activities designed to encourage members to get involved, build confidence, and stay connected. EVAC North’s approach focuses on creating a supportive community where veterans can meet others who understand their experiences, try new skills, and access the wider help available through Erskine if needed.
