EVAC North Support from Officers’ Association Scotland
We are delighted to share that Officers’ Association Scotland has awarded a generous grant of £10,000 to Erskine. This grant will go towards our new Welfare Rights Officer post at the Erskine Veterans Activity Centre in Forres (EVAC North).
Since opening in December 2024, EVAC North has grown significantly and has already reached over 600 Veterans in the northeast of Scotland living with social isolation, financial issues and mental health challenges. Our Welfare Rights Officer post will begin later this year. This new full-time role will provide a wide range of expert advice, guidance and advocacy to help our members benefit from greater financial stability, improved mental wellbeing, increased independence and faster responses to crisis situations.
Davie Grant, Centre Manager at EVAC North: “We are so grateful to everyone at Officers’ Association Scotland for supporting this vital new project. Our Welfare Rights Officer’s expertise will have a huge positive impact on the quality of life of our Officers, Veterans and spouses at the Centre. Every day we have new faces coming through the door and every day we leave here with a smile knowing that Erskine makes the difference in people’s lives.”
Heather McVeigh, Chief Executive of Officers’ Association Scotland: “We are delighted to provide a grant to fund a Welfare Rights Officer at the Erskine Activity Centre in Moray. This role will ensure veterans have accessible, compassionate support and practical guidance when they need it most, helping them navigate challenges and thrive in the communities they’ve earned every right to call home.”
We are incredibly grateful for the Association’s continued support of our Officer beneficiaries and our wider veteran community. Officers’ Association Scotland provides vital financial support to support Officers and their families across Scotland to lead full and productive lives.
