Keith Community Radio Station invites EVACN on to the 'Getting to Know You 'Show
Members from Erskine Veterans Activity Centre North (EVAC North) in Forres featured on local community station Keith Community Radio on the Getting To Know You slot with Sheila MacDonald on Monday, 27 October 2025.
The conversation spotlighted the camaraderie, creativity, and community impact of EVAC North, giving listeners a window into the lived experiences of local veterans and the support available across Moray and the Highlands.
During the programme, EVAC North members shared personal stories and discussed the centre’s welcoming, purposeful environment. From peer support and wellbeing activities to skills-building sessions and volunteering that all strengthen ties with the wider community.
Listeners also heard how local people and businesses can get involved, donate, or refer veterans who might benefit from the centre.
Michael Parkes, Fundraising and Community Development Officer (North), said:
“We are honoured to feature on 'Getting to Know You' on KCR on the same week the station marks its 28th birthday. The show gave our staff and members an opportunity to share first-hand the life-changing difference we are making to the Veteran community across the Northeast. With Remembrance Day upcoming in November, it is such a poignant time for Veterans.”
Shaun Moat, Chair of the Members Committee at EVAC North, said:
“Our members’ voices matter. KCR is part of the fabric of the local community, and this interview was a chance to show what Erskine’s support looks like day-to-day, with cups of tea, good chat, shared skills, and a sense of purpose.
