Mum & Daughter Walk for Erskine Veterans Activity Centre North

Mum & Daughter Walk for Erskine Veterans Activity Centre North

Lis Robinson, along with her daughter Phoenix, overcame all 96 miles of the iconic West Highland Way whilst facing a range of unpredictable Scottish weather. the pair persevered through the legendary route from Milngavie to Fort William in support of Erskine Veterans Activity Centre North (EVAC North), raising an incredible £1,119.84.

EVAC North in Forres, Moray offers a welcoming hub where Veterans can connect, share experiences, learn new skills, and rediscover purpose, through activities and peer support tailored to their needs. The charity has been a lifeline to over 600 Veterans across the Northeast since opening in January this year.

Lis, who works as a Sports Massage Therapist at the EVAC North, carried all their gear on their epic 11-day adventure.

“We are incredibly grateful to Lis and Phoenix for taking on this amazing challenge,” said Michael Parkes, Fundraising and Development Manager (North) for Erskine. “They battled through all sorts of weather on their heroic voyage! The team at EVAC North are so proud of the determination and kindness shown by Lis and Phoenix, not only to raise crucial funds but also awareness of the support we provide to Veterans across the North of Scotland. Every donation helps us continue our work, connecting Veterans, combating isolation, and enhancing wellbeing. We can’t thank them enough.”

Reflecting on the journey and what the cause means to her family, Lis Robinson commented: “Taking on the West Highland Way with Phoenix was one of the toughest and most rewarding things we’ve ever done. It was a mighty challenge for little legs, as we navigated the beautiful yet unpredictable Scottish landscape. But supporting Erskine is incredibly important to us, as a Veteran and as a mum, I’ve seen first-hand the difference their support makes to people’s lives. Phoenix and I are so proud to have contributed to something that helps others in our community.”

In 2026, Erskine will mark its 110th anniversary of caring for Scotland’s Veterans. Today, the charity supports over 1,200 Veterans and their families each year through its care homes, accommodation, and community-based services.
